Why go to all the trouble to paint it, surely it would have been easier? to use black plastic?

I have a few questions how thick is the acrylic you are using, is there a chance of it sticking at all and you dont have any problems leaving the protective plastic on well in the? oven everything else Ive seen they tell you to take it off but if it doesnt mess up the project then I would rather leave it on.
